Description
Navigating aged care services is complex and so seeking help is important.
Care Navigators will walk you through the following steps:
- Understanding where you are on the journey, including any current approvals.
- Evaluate and present the various options available to you.
- Putting services in place.
There are one of three scenario's
Some self funded retirees prefer to arrange private services and pay for exactly what they want, when they want it.
Others, will seek to access whatever government entitlements they are eligible for which may include a basic level of support through the Commonwealth Home Support Program or a Home Care Package (HCP). Both solutions require an independent assessment and an HCP also requires a Department of Human Services income assessment to determine the income-tested care fee they will need to contribute toward the cost of care.
For others, it may be a combination of Government subsidy and private pay. Whatever your situation, Next Stepz can support you through the process and work with your financial adviser to ensure you achieve a happy balance between your care goals and your financial goals.

My husband has had Parkinson’s for 14 years and I am determined to care for him at home. The last year or so has been a real struggle though. My husband had been approved for a Level 3 package but was on the waitlist and I started receiving letters about a level 2 which confused me. I found the letters from My Aged Care very wordy and I was starting to wonder how I would cope. I felt quite helpless. Next Stepz Navigators helped take the burden of paperwork away and supported me in determining the small steps I needed to take to ensure we had the right level and type of help. I was so relieved once everything was in place. I’m now able to get out and about again and take time for myself.
